John Sammarco

John Sammarco is an experienced engineering professional with a diverse background in research and accreditation. Since July 2014, John has served as the Past Chair of the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission at ABET. Prior to this role, John worked as a Principal Research Engineer at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health from 1987 to 2023, and participated in the IEEE Committee for Engineering Technology Accreditation Activities in 2012-2013. Earlier in their career, John was an Electrical Engineer at Wabco from June 1979 to July 1987. John holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from West Virginia University, as well as multiple master's degrees in Industrial Engineering and Computer Engineering, and a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Penn State University.
