Jonathan Roth

Technical Leader, PIC Hardware Engineering at Acacia Communications

Jonathan Roth is a seasoned technical leader in PIC hardware engineering, currently at Acacia Communications Inc., which is part of Cisco since September 2019. Previously, Roth served as a Staff Hardware Engineer at Juniper Networks from August 2016, focusing on silicon photonics transceivers, following Aurrion's acquisition by Juniper. Prior to that, Roth was a Senior Optoelectronic Device Engineer at Aurrion, working on III-V on Silicon Photonics modulator and photodetector design. Early career experience includes a Graduate Student role at Stanford University, where Roth earned a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, and an internship at Agilent Technologies developing microfluidic liquid chromatography systems. Roth also held a Fulbright Fellowship at Lund University, studying tissue optics, and conducted undergraduate research at Case Western Reserve University, developing fiber-based OCT probes for ophthalmology. Roth holds a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
