Anna Campbell is a renowned expert in agribusiness and is unashamedly passionate about the future of the food and agri-sector. She has a PhD in plant biotechnology and has special interests in genetics and food security.
After working as a postdoc and for a number of years as an animal genomics scientist, Anna joined AbacusBio in 2007. AbacusBio is a private company specialising in genetic improvement of livestock and plant species and operating in over 20 countries.
Anna was the Managing Director of AbacusBio from 2015-2021, during that time the company extended its international footprint, established a subsidiary in Edinburgh and acquired a plant breeding company.
Anna remains a Partner at AbacusBio and has recently co-founded a nutraceutical company, Zestt Wellness. She is also a Director of the New Zealand Cricket Association, Otago Innovation Limited (the University of Otago’s commercial arm), Genomics Aoteoroa and a Trustee of Otago Boys’ High School.
Anna is married and has three teenage children.
