Nina Patel

Nina Patel, JD, serves as Senior Policy Counsel in the Justice Division at the ACLU since September 2023. Previously, Nina Patel was Legislative Counsel and Policy Specialist for Congressman Robert “Bobby” Scott in the U.S. House of Representatives, where responsibilities included overseeing legislative initiatives, writing policy memos, and securing bipartisan support for the Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program. Earlier in the career, Nina Patel worked as Deputy Public Defender IV at Orange County Public Defender, managing litigation for over 40 jury trials across various criminal cases. Nina Patel holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political and Social Thought from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor from Tulane University Law School.
