Born in Madrid in 1971, David Benito Astudillo is a Senior Aeronautical Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and a career civil servant in the Corps of Aeronautical Engineers.
He began his professional career as a consultant in the field of information technology and telecommunications to later work as an advisor on air transport regulation in the public company SENASA, until he joined the body of aeronautical engineers in 2010.
As a civil servant, he has held the positions of national civil aviation safety auditor at the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA), head of the international agreements area at the General Directorate of Civil Aviation and, since July 2015, deputy director General of Air Transport.
He is also a member of the panel of experts on air transport regulation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), vice-president of the working group on transport economics of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), member of the Governing Council of AESA and president of its Control Commission.
In recognition of his work, in July 2019 he was awarded the Official Cross of the Order of Civil Merit.
