Deirdre Barfield

Deirdre Barfield, MD, MBA, currently serves as the Interim Chief Medical Officer for Medicare Advantage and Vice President of Medical Management at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, where responsibilities encompass oversight of Case Management, Disease Management, Utilization Management, Appeals, Medical Policy, and Credentialing, with a significant focus on Population Health and Medicare Advantage programs. Prior experience includes roles as Chief Medical Officer for Health Plans and Population Health at CHRISTUS Health and CMO/VPMA at CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier, where leadership involved enhancing quality and patient-centered care initiatives. Deirdre Barfield's earlier career included positions as Section Chief for General Medicine at LSUHSC in Shreveport and as a physician at Schumpert Hospital, along with directing a Hospitalist Program.
