Robert M. (Red) Schiller, MD, is Senior Vice President for Clinical Affairs, Chair of Graduate Medical Education and Chief Medical Officer for the Institute for Family Health. Dr. Schiller is also Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Health System in New York. Dr. Schiller, who joined the Institute in 1987, specializes in family medicine. In addition to being a practicing physician, Dr. Schiller oversees clinical affairs and the graduate medical education program across the Institute’s network of 26 practices in the Bronx, Manhattan and Mid-Hudson Valley. In 2011, Dr. Schiller was named among Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors: New York Metro Area.”
Dr. Schiller has been an active member of the Ethics Committee at Mount Sinai Beth Israel since 1995. He has helped lead the Ethics Committee program and developed electives in Biomedical Ethics for Resident’s and Medical Students.
First Board certified in 1985 by the American Board of Family Practice, he completed residency training in family medicine that same year at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He went on to complete a one year fellowship in faculty development at Montefiore. Dr. Schiller’s clinical interests include homeopathy, acupuncture, integrative medicine and pediatrics.
Dr. Schiller received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and philosophy of science and technology from Dartmouth College. He then earned a Doctor of Medicine Degree from New York University School of Medicine.
