Salvator Nkeshimana serves as the Coordinator of the East Africa Desk in the Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department of the African Union since January 2003, overseeing crisis monitoring and governance issues across fifteen East African countries. With extensive experience as a Political Officer and various focal points addressing migration, human rights, and gender issues, Nkeshimana has contributed to the resolution of significant political crises in several nations, including Sudan and the Comoros. Previous roles included leadership positions in the Ministry of Civil Service of the Republic of Burundi, focusing on human resource management and recruitment processes. Nkeshimana holds a Master's Degree in Managing Peace and Security in Africa from the Institute of Peace and Security Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Université du Burundi.
