Derek Carless

Derek Carless is an experienced professional in agricultural economics and operations, currently serving as the Head of Operations at AHDB since August 2009, where responsibilities include leading a team to provide market insights in the cereals and oilseeds sector. Previously, Derek held various positions within AHDB, including Head of Farm Economics, where a focus was placed on enhancing farm productivity through benchmarking tools, and Senior Supply Chain Development Manager, with a key project managing the eGrain Passport pilot. Earlier career roles included Area Field Manager at 7Y Services Ltd, Sprayer Operator at EC Drummond & Son Ltd, and Tractor Driver at Broadfield Farms. Derek holds a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture & Land Management from the Royal Agricultural University and completed A Levels in Chemistry, Geography, and English Literature at Dyson Perrins High School.
