Carsten Sauerland

Born in 1978, Dr. Carsten Sauerland studied business administration at the universities of Manheim (Germany) and Barcelona (Spain). He completed his Bachelor's in 2002, his Master's in 2004 and his PhD in 2007. He started his professional career in Frankfurt in the field of International Tax Advisory and Audit. In 2010, he worked at HeidelbergCement as Assistant Group CFO. Between 2012 and 2016, he served as Assistant General Manager / Finance at Akçansa. He returned to the HeidelbergCement Group in 2016 and assumed the position of Director of Management and Financial Reporting. He was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of Akçansa in 2016, representing HeidelbergCement. Sauerland was appointed as the CEO of HeidelbergCement Trading in 2020.
