2nd Line Engineer at Akita

Sam Cross is a 2nd Line Engineer at Akita. Prior to this, they worked as an IT Support Technician at Hospice in the Weald from May 2017 to August 2019. In this role, they were responsible for the administration of ICT tasks, including logging helpdesk tickets and handling user accounts using software like Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SharePoint, 3CX, SOTI MobiControl and Group Policy. Sam also independently controlled the helpdesk, providing 1st and 2nd line support to users as well as escalating 3rd helpdesk tickets to appropriate colleagues and/or contractors. Additionally, they served as a line manager to a Trainee Support Technician as well as a team of volunteers, acting as a coach to teach new skills and troubleshoot issues.

During their time at Hospice in the Weald, Sam also led various ICT projects, such as the implementation of a Voice over IP system (VoIP, 3CX), Server Room moves and Office moves. Sam also played a leading role in projects and non-helpdesk tasks such as re-writing ICT Internal Standards, UPS battery replacement, Implementation of Remote Desktop and communicating with users to identify their needs and deliver a high standard service.

In their current role at Akita, Sam is responsible for similar duties as they were at Hospice in the Weald. Sam is assigned work by the Head of ICT to be completed with a deadline, which includes producing reports and implementing software and training users on new software like VoIP and tablets.
