Ashley Bouknight is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in public history and museum studies. As the Owner of LilaLue Sweets since October 2019, and the Senior Manager of Professional Development at the American Association for State and Local History since January 2021, Ashley has demonstrated a strong commitment to professional growth and community engagement. Previous roles include Research Historian/Interpretive Specialist at Historical Research Associates, Inc., and Curator at Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, where Ashley led initiatives to expand narratives related to the site's enslaved community. With a Doctor of Philosophy in Public/Applied History from Middle Tennessee State University and multiple advanced degrees in Public History and Museum Studies from the University of South Carolina, Ashley Bouknight combines academic expertise with practical experience to enhance historical understanding and public programming in cultural institutions.
