Becky Hazen

Becky Hazen is the Deputy Director and Co-Founder of SciLine, a nonprofit startup established in October 2017 that aims to enhance American journalism by integrating scientific evidence, particularly in local news. Prior experience includes serving as the Director of Speechwriting at both the Children's National Health System and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, as well as holding the position of Deputy Director of Strategic Communications in the Office of Science & Technology Policy at The White House. Earlier roles include serving as a Special Assistant and Strategic Communications Advisor at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and as an Outreach Coordinator at the New York Academy of Sciences. Education credentials include a Master of Arts in Earth & Environmental Science with a focus on Hydrogeology and a Master of Science in Journalism with a concentration in Digital Media from Columbia University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Policy, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Barnard College.
