Jim Barker, MD CPE, FCCP, currently serves as the Chairman of Clinical Medicine and Professor of Internal Medicine at The Medical Partnership of Augusta University and the University of Georgia, where responsibilities include leading the Clinical Physician Faculty and participating in medical student education. With a long-standing involvement in the American College of Chest Physicians since 1987, Jim has held various significant positions, including Director of Clinical Skills and Simulation at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, and led initiatives in clinical services and operational integrity at University Hospital of San Antonio. Past roles encompass senior leadership in pulmonary and critical care divisions across multiple healthcare systems, including Palmetto Health and Scott & White Healthcare. Jim's educational background includes an MD from the University of Kansas Medical Center and a BA in Human Biology and English from The University of Kansas.
