Katya Naphtali

Exhibition Explainer - Volunteer at American Museum of Natural History

Katya Naphtali is a skilled Plant Protection Technician at USDA, focusing on the year-round management of the invasive Spotted Lanternfly in Hudson Valley since July 2024. Currently volunteering as an Exhibition Explainer at the American Museum of Natural History, Katya shares knowledge about butterflies and moths in the Butterfly Vivarium. Previous experience includes serving as an Americorps Horticultural Stewardship Coordinator with North Brooklyn Parks Alliance, managing a new park and maintaining public spaces. As an Urban Farming Apprentice at Eagle Street Rooftop Farm, Katya gained expertise in urban agriculture. Educationally, Katya holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Kenyon College, where participation as a Senior Admissions Fellow and various lab internships enriched the understanding of biology and ecology. Additionally, a study abroad program focused on sustainability studies further expanded Katya's knowledge in environmental concerns.
