Kathy Escamilla

Dr. Kathy Escamilla is a Professor Emerita from the Division of Equity, Bilingualism & Biliteracy at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Her research focuses on the development of (bi)literacy in Spanish-speaking emerging bilingual children in the United States. She has co-authored three books, most notably Biliteracy from the Start: Literacy Squared in Action, and more than 50 research articles.

Kathy was excited to participate in ARC’s Advisory Board when she saw the quality of the ARC staff, the dedication to Spanish/English bilingualism, and the diversity of interests and experiences of other board members.
