Simone Lilavois is an intern at SALAD since December 2023 and serves on the Amherst Physics Climate and Community Committee, actively involved in enhancing the departmental atmosphere through collaborative discussions. As a writer for the Astrobiology Society of America, Simone contributes articles focused on the intersection of geological, planetary, and astrophysical sciences with the evolution of life. Experience includes mentoring high school students in microbiology at the NYC Science Research Mentoring Consortium and working as an intern at the American Museum of Natural History, where Simone organized and digitized data for the electron microprobe. Previous roles also include a writer for the Amateur Astronomers Association's newsletter and a NASA GBE Program Leader at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, working on the citizen science project to support NASA's research on plant growth in space. Currently, Simone is pursuing studies at Amherst College, expected to graduate in May 2028.
