Darlene Abubakar is a seasoned marketing professional with extensive experience in national advertising and brand management. Since joining Amtrak in January 2000 as Senior Director National Advertising & Brand Management, Darlene has successfully directed multiple advertising agencies in the planning and execution of comprehensive advertising campaigns, while overseeing strategy, budget management, and research efforts. Prior roles include Director of Marketing at Weiting & Richter Ltd, where Darlene developed marketing strategies for consumer products, and National Sales And Marketing Director at Laparkan Air & Ocean Shipping, where strategic plans were created. Earlier in the career, Darlene served as Senior Manager Marketing at MCI/Worldcom, managing advertising operations and campaigns. Darlene holds an MBA in International Marketing from The George Washington University School of Business and a BS in Marketing from the University of Maryland.
