J. Paul Norton

J. Paul Norton serves as the Director of Intellectual Property at Ancestry since March 2021, overseeing global patent and trademark portfolios and providing guidance on IP-related disputes and licensing matters. Prior experience includes working as a Patent Attorney at Workman Nydegger from 2014 to February 2021, specializing in patent drafting and prosecution in the fields of biology, medicine, and computer science. J. Paul Norton co-founded and presided over Litem Analytics from February 2015 to March 2017, where IP strategy was developed for B2B and B2C SaaS products. Educational qualifications include a Juris Doctor from BYU Law School, a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Utah School of Medicine, and dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Mathematics and Statistics and Microbiology from Miami University. Prior to academic pursuits, J. Paul Norton worked as a Laboratory Technician at Miami University from 2006 to 2008.
