Dr Steevie Chan is a medical practitioner and medical educator with more than 30 years’ experience in health care and tertiary education, spanning both public and private sectors. He is currently the District Director of Medical Services at the Central Coast Local Health District, and was recently Dean and Professor of the School of Medicine (Sydney) at the University of Notre Dame Australia. He has a deep interest and commitment to health care quality and patient safety, and contributes to health outcomes research and education.
Dr Chan has held senior roles in major teaching hospitals and the NSW Health Department, including being the Senior Policy Adviser for the Minister for Health; and was formerly Clinical Senior Lecturer (Population Medicine) at the University of Sydney. He has postgraduate and specialist qualifications in health administration and public health, and was formerly Chair, Board of Studies, Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (NSW). He has extensive experience in corporate governance through his Board membership of Research Institutes, not-for-profit companies and church-related organisations. He was appointed to the Board in March 2021.
