Joshua Prater

Joshua Prater currently serves as a Mobile Response Team Counselor at the Apalachee Center, a position held since July 2024. Previously, Joshua worked as a Family Support Coordinator at Daniel Kids from May 2022 to May 2024, and as a Child Protective Investigator for the Florida Department of Children and Families between March 2021 and May 2022, focusing on child welfare concerns. Joshua's background also includes roles as an Economic Sufficiency Specialist I, where eligibility for public assistance programs was assessed, and a Police Officer with the City of Jacksonville, emphasizing community safety through visible policing. Prior experience includes working as a Criminal Justice Information Analyst and Senior Criminal Justice Information Technician at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, processing firearm eligibility requests. Joshua began a career in customer service with Chick-fil-A and has a strong foundation in media, having held various roles in journalism and radio production. Joshua holds a Master of Science in Psychology from Keiser University and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Broadcast Journalism from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University.
