Stephen Coates

Stephen Coates is a seasoned professional in art direction and creative design, with a distinguished career spanning several decades. Currently serving as the Joint Art Director for Art Quarterly at The Art Fund since November 2012, Stephen Coates has also held the position of Creative Director for The Drawbridge at FiveByOne Publishing since 2006. Previous roles include Art Director for Crafts magazine at the Crafts Council from 2008 to March 2020, Art Director for Sight & Sound magazine from 1998 to 2004, and Director at August Media, focusing on design and publishing related to design, architecture, and fine arts. Stephen Coates has further contributed as Art Director for Tate magazine and Eye magazine, and was a designer at Arefin Coates.
