Ay’Anna Moody is a proud 2nd Generation Oakland Native. She is currently the inaugural
Director of Generation Thrive for the Golden State Warriors. This non-profit accelerator houses
cohorts of non-profits and educators that create innovation at the intersection of education and
wellness to improve young people’s outcomes. Before joining the Warriors, Ay’Anna was the
Director of College Access for the Oakland Promise and the Coordinator of College Access for
the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD).
Under her leadership, OUSD’s College and Career Readiness Specialist and college access
partners helped dramatically grow the FAFSA/Dream Act Application completion in OUSD to
85% and increase the high school graduation rate to 70% (the highest graduation rate in
decades). She also secured a $1M grant from JP Morgan & Chase to implement financial
capability work in Oakland schools in 2020. Her hard work, strategic thinking, ability to
relationship build and engage, commitment to equity, and overall drive made an incredible
impact at both the Oakland Promise and OUSD.
Ay’Anna is an Aspire Public School Alumna, earned her B.A. in African American Studies and
Political Science from UCLA, and holds an M.A. in Education Policy and Social Analysis from
Columbia University. She is the 3rd Vice President of the Oakland NAACP and a Bay Area.
