Michael Waidner

Michael Waidner serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the ATHENE-Center, the largest research center for applied cybersecurity in Europe, since January 2019. In addition, Michael holds the position of Full Professor in the Computer Science department at Technische Universität Darmstadt and directs research at the Fraunhofer Institute for Secure Information Technology. Michael also acts as Editor in Chief for ACM Transactions on Privacy and Security and has held visiting professorships, including a role at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Prior experience includes significant roles at IBM, where Michael was a Distinguished Engineer and CTO for Security, alongside research positions at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie. Michael earned both a Dr. rer. nat. and a Diploma in Computer Science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
