Dr. Rick Barrera

Dr. Rick Barrera currently serves as Senior Chaplain at Astella Home Health and Hospice since June 2023, following a role as Regional Director of Spiritual Care at Harbor Healthcare System from September 2022 to June 2023, where hospice services were provided for the Gulf Coast region. Previous positions include Senior Chaplain at Corpus Christi Hospice, Family Service Counselor at Dignity Memorial Funeral Homes, and Associate Pastor/Vice President of Student Services at Cornerstone Church and Texas Graduate School of Theology. Dr. Barrera also has management experience in the outdoor living industry, branch operations, skilled nursing admissions, and human resources and safety. Dr. Barrera holds a Doctor of Theology and a Master of Divinity from Minnesota Graduate School of Theology, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Theology and Biblical Studies, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and a certificate as a Paramedic.
