Elke Braems

Elke Braems is a Medical Science Liaison in Respiratory at AstraZeneca since January 2023 and has been a PhD Supervisor and FWO PhD Fellow at VIB since October 2018. During the PhD at VIB-KU Leuven under the supervision of Prof. Ludo Van Den Bosch, Elke Braems focused on novel modifying factors of C9orf72 RNA toxicity using various models for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, including zebrafish and patient iPSC-derived motor neurons. Elke Braems also completed a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences at KU Leuven in 2018, where research involved the role of RNA-binding proteins in C9orf72 RNA toxicity in a zebrafish model. The educational journey began with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven, completed in 2016.
