Luke Boyer

Luke Boyer, Ph.D., currently serves as the Lead Principal Research Engineer at Auburn University since November 2024. Prior to this role, Luke held several key positions including Manager of Additive Manufacturing at Carpenter Additive and Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer at Carpenter Technology Corporation. Luke's extensive experience encompasses a strong background in additive manufacturing and materials science, with notable roles at Baker Hughes as Additive Manufacturing Technical Leader & Materials Scientist and previously as a metallurgist. Alongside technical roles, Luke contributed to medical entrepreneurship as Co-President of the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs, and co-founded Firebird Energy, LLC. Luke obtained a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Rice University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Metals and Materials Engineering from McGill University.
