Ieme Garrez

Ieme Garrez is a dedicated medical professional currently training as a Neuroloog in opleiding at az groeninge since January 2025. As a Fellow with Belgium's 40 under 40, Ieme engages in leadership development focused on societal responsibility and impact. Involvement with VLIR-UOS includes two projects aimed at addressing epilepsy in Rwanda, emphasizing community-based research and improving diagnostic capabilities. Ieme also holds a PhD fellowship with Research Foundation Flanders and serves as a Neurology Resident at UZ Gent. Educational achievements include a Master of Medicine in Specialist Medicine from Ghent University, with ongoing studies as an MD-PhD candidate. Additional experience includes roles as a medical student intern at Kilembe Mines Hospital and a medical student at OUH Odense Universitetshospital.
