Marco Wellnitz

Marco Wellnitz is an accomplished professional in precious metals management, currently serving as the Head of Global PGM Management at BASF since 2021. In this role, Marco is responsible for overseeing best-in-class global PGM management, ensuring a comprehensive view across R&D, program management, commercial excellence, manufacturing, supply chain, and finance. Prior to this position, Marco held various roles at BASF Catalysts Germany GmbH, including Senior Manager Precious Metals from 2009 to 2020, where responsibilities included managing precious metal departments across multiple countries and providing commercial advice for customer cost-saving initiatives. Previously, Marco served as Manager Precious Metal Controlling and began a career as a Customer PGM Management Specialist at Engelhard Technologies GmbH from 1997 to 2005.
