Esther van Schalkwyk

Esther Van Schalkwyk is an accomplished tax professional with extensive experience in tax consulting and legal practice. Currently serving as Associate Director at BDO South Africa since January 2015, Esther has held various roles including Senior Tax Manager and Tax Consultant, focusing on research and preparation of technical tax opinions across corporate, personal, and international tax domains. Prior to BDO, Esther worked as a Candidate Attorney at Norton Rose Fulbright, specializing in litigation and dispute resolution, where responsibilities included instituting legal matters and drafting pleadings. Esther's academic background includes a Master's Degree in Taxation from the University of Cape Town and a Master's Degree in Law from Stellenbosch University, along with specialized training in Value-Added Tax. Esther also contributed to legal education as a part-time assistant at the University of Stellenbosch and has conducted research in Property Law.
