Derek Lau

Derek Lau currently serves as Vice President at BDT & MSD Partners since March 2023. Prior to this role, Derek held the position of Private Equity Senior Associate at Apollo Global Management Inc. from August 2021 to March 2023, focusing on flagship and generalist private equity. Between February 2016 and July 2021, Derek worked at Goldman Sachs as a Senior Associate in the Merchant Banking Division and Special Situations Group, specializing in cross-capital structure investments and multi-strategy investing. Earlier career experiences include serving as an Investment Banking Analyst at UBS and as a Summer Analyst at both Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. Derek holds a Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Laws (JD) in Accounting and Finance from UNSW, along with exchanges at The Wharton School and Singapore Management University.
