Heidi Huuhtanen

Heidi Huuhtanen is a seasoned professional in conflict mediation and international relations with extensive experience in advisory and leadership roles. Currently serving as a Senior Advisor at Berghof Foundation since May 2017, Huuhtanen previously held key positions at CMI (Crisis Management Initiative) from October 2008 to December 2016, including Senior Advisor and Programme Director focused on the Middle East, North Africa, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Huuhtanen's earlier career includes directing the Middle East Programme at The Finnish Institute of International Affairs, researching security policies and opposition movements, and working as a researcher/coordinator at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. Academic qualifications include a PhD from Durham University and a Master's Degree from the University of Helsinki.
