Anne Villacastin

Postdoctoral Fellow at Berkeley Lab

Anne Villacastin is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Berkeley Lab since September 2022, focusing on enhancing sorghum transformation using morphogenic regulators. Prior to this role, Anne served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas from January 2016 to August 2022, where expertise was developed in creating and studying rice mutants related to drought resistance through a multiplex CRISPR/Cas9 editing system. Additionally, Anne held a Graduate Teaching Assistant position, instructing undergraduate biology courses and managing online classes. Earlier experiences include working as a Research Assistant at the University of the Philippines Diliman, creating molecular tests for fish diseases, and roles as a Technical Research Assistant at the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center, where various molecular techniques were applied to prevent viral infections in aquatic species. Anne earned a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences focusing on Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of the Philippines.
