Christopher Blyton, PhD, has extensive work experience in the field of oil and gas exploration. Christopher currently works as a Data Scientist at Beyond Limits, starting in October 2021. Prior to this, they worked at bp from August 2016 to January 2021 as a Geomechanics Specialist. In this role, they designed a hybrid software application for sand management, incorporating Data Science techniques and Agile project management.
Before joining bp, Christopher worked at Chevron as a Research Scientist. Christopher worked in this role for two separate periods: from June to August 2014 and from June to August 2013. Christopher'swork at Chevron involved comparing elastic moduli measurement techniques and applying them to rock characterization, with a focus on shale properties.
Christopher also gained experience at Hess Corporation as an Engineering Intern from June to August 2012, where they modeled fracture fluid flowback and gas production implications using reservoir simulation, specifically focusing on shale gas reservoirs. Prior to that, they worked as a Research Assistant at Berkeley Lab from June to August 2011, conducting experimental research on methane gas hydrate formation and its prediction in arctic sediment.
Christopher'searly career includes working at Schlumberger as a Field Engineer from February 2007 to October 2009. During this time, they were responsible for obtaining, quality controlling, interpreting, and delivering measuring and logging data while working offshore. Christopher also performed nuclear tool calibration and provided operational support from the office, completing various technical courses in logging and drilling technology.
Christopher Blyton's work experience demonstrates expertise in geomechanics, reservoir simulation, data science, and experimental research in the oil and gas industry.
Christopher Blyton, PhD, obtained their education in the field of engineering. Christopher completed their Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wollongong. Christopher then pursued further studies at The University of Texas at Austin, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree, both in Petroleum Engineering. Christopher has also obtained additional certifications in various areas, including Probability, Data Analysis, and Machine Learning, from edX.
