Brian Thornton

Brian Thornton is a seasoned professional in the basketball industry, currently serving as Vice President of Men's Basketball at the Big 12 Conference since November 2024. Prior to this role, Brian held various leadership positions, including Co Executive Director at the United Athletic Conference and Commissioner at the Western Athletic Conference. Brian's extensive experience also includes serving as Associate Commissioner for Basketball at the American Athletic Conference and as Assistant Director of Basketball Development at the NCAA. With a background that features roles as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Ball State University, Winthrop University, and Furman University, as well as Director of Basketball Operations at Xavier University, Brian has developed a robust skill set in basketball management and coaching. Brian holds an MBA from Xavier University and a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences from the same institution.
