Joy Smith-McCormick

Joy Smith-McCormick, Esq. is a legal professional with extensive experience across various roles in legal and compliance capacities. Currently serving as Lead Counsel for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America since June 2022, Joy manages a wide array of legal matters including litigation, contract management, and regulatory compliance. Previously, Joy worked as an Assistant County Attorney for Hillsborough County, providing legal advice to the Board of County Commissioners and other county departments. As Legal and Compliance Director for Kid's Community Charter Schools, Joy offered strategic legal guidance in areas such as governance, charter contract negotiations, and employment law. Joy’s career also includes roles at Williams Moore Law Firm, Second District Court of Appeal, and positions as a staff attorney and law clerk. Educationally, Joy holds a JD/MA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a BS in Political Science from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and is currently pursuing a Six Sigma Green Belt at Villanova University along with In-House Counsel Certification from the Association of Corporate Counsel.
