Aurelio Bonavia

Aurelio Bonavia is an experienced professional in the field of vaccine and therapeutic development, currently serving in a role focused on vaccines and monoclonal antibodies at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute since July 2020. Previous positions include Sr. Director of Clinical Development at Vir Biotechnology, Inc. from July 2017 to May 2020, and Director of Translational Development Vaccine Platforms at Aeras from July 2014 to June 2017. Aurelio has also held roles as Director of Biology at Theraclone Sciences, Scientist in the Respiratory Viruses Group at Novartis, and Senior Scientist at Functional Genetics. Early career experience includes a Research Fellow position at NIH-NIAID-LVD. Aurelio's academic qualifications consist of a Post-Doctoral degree from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, a Master’s Degree from Institut Armand-Frappier - Universite du Quebec, and a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Texas at Austin.
