David A. Gerber

David A. Gerber is a distinguished Professor and Vice Chair Clinical Affairs and Chief of the Division of Abdominal Transplant at UNC, where he actively runs a lab focused on stem cell research with an emphasis on cellular differentiation and organogenesis (or organ regeneration). He is actively involved with the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Transplant Surgeons, The Transplantation Society, Society of University of Surgeons, Southern Surgical Association and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. In 2010 he was appointed by the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to the Advisory Committee on Transplantation (ACOT). He is a Col. in the US Air Force Reserves.
