Janine Downes is an experienced leader in cultural and public programming with a robust background in library management and community engagement. Currently serving as Head of Public Programmes at Black Country Living Museum since January 2022, Janine has previously held significant roles including Service Development & Engagement Manager at Worcestershire County Council and University of Worcester, where collaboration focused on enhancing community support through libraries. Janine's leadership development was further honed as a Clore Fellow and demonstrated effective project management as Hive Manager for Europe's first integrated public and university library. Previous positions include Casual Duty Manager at the Royal Shakespeare Company and various roles in library management, culminating in a strong foundation in visitor services and community outreach. Janine holds a BA Hons in English Literature and Russian from The University of Sheffield.
