Derek Glanvill joined the Black & Veatch Board of Directors in April 2017. Glanvill is a Senior Advisor for Oaktree Capital Management’s GFI Energy & Infrastructure Funds, which invest in profitable, growing companies with innovative products and services used in energy, utility and infrastructure.
Glanvill brings more than 32 years of experience in the design and construction industry and has served in a senior leadership role in a broad spectrum of national and international markets. Derek was previously the President and Chief Operating Officer of McCarthy Building Companies Inc., a top 10 global construction company. He spent 20 years at McCarthy creating and expanding many high-margin business units. He was recognized for his efforts in steering the company through the challenging economic conditions resulting from the financial crisis, implementing significant talent initiatives, and driving significant profitable growth through diversification into new markets. Prior to McCarthy, he was a senior executive at Sverdrup (now Jacobs Engineering), a large engineering firm, and formerly at Hill Constructors, a subsidiary of an international construction conglomerate.
Glanvill is from Johannesburg, South Africa and received his degree in civil and structural engineering at the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.
