Simon McNamara has spent their career in leadership roles in the technology sector of some of the world's largest banks. Simon is currently an advisor at Blockchain Capital, a venture capital firm focused on blockchain technology investments.
Simon started their career in 1984 as a manager at Midland Montagu, a British merchant bank. Simon then moved to C*ATS Software in 1988, where they eventually rose to the role of Vice President of Product Marketing.
In 1991, Simon McNamara transitioned into the banking sector, joining BNP Paribas as their CIO of Capital Markets. Simon then spent four years as the Global Head of Technology for Deutsche Bank's Global Markets and Transaction Banking divisions, followed by a six year stint as the Group CIO for Westpac Banking Corporation.
Simon McNamara's most recent role was as the CIO Consumer Bank for Standard Chartered Bank from 2008 until 2013. In this role, they were responsible for Technology and Operations worldwide.
Since leaving Standard Chartered Bank, Simon has been working as an advisor at Blockchain Capital. In this role, they are helping the firm identify and invest in promising blockchain-based projects.
Simon McNamara is a graduate of the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where they earned their SEP. Simon also holds a Postgrad Dipl in Computer Science from the University of Hertfordshire, and a BSc in Economics and Statistics from Swansea University. Simon McNamara also attended Saint Albans School.
