Matt Crane

Matt Crane is the Co-Founder & Science Advisor at BlueDot Photonics. Matt was previously a PhD Candidate at the University of Washington from August 2011 to December 2017. Their research there included investigating high pressure, high temperature phase transformations of nanostructured materials in laser-heated diamond anvil cells, developing techniques to measure optically trapped particles with ratiometric rare earth and transition metal doped micro and nanoparticles at high irradiances, and examining extreme chemistry from isolated particles. Matt also did fundamental studies of hybrid and organic photovoltaic charge separation and vertical phase segregation of bulk heterojunction films on different substrates.

Matt Crane completed their undergraduate studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they earned a BS in chemical engineering and a nanotechnology certificate. Matt then went on to complete their MS and PhD in chemical engineering at the University of Washington.

Matt Crane reports to Jared Silvia, CEO. They work with Sarah Little - Materials Engineer, Wylie Kau - PV Engineer, and Nicholas Anderson - Director, R&D.
