Mario Riesner

Mario Riesner currently serves as the Global Head Biopharma Network (SVP) at Boehringer Ingelheim since October 2023. Previously, Mario held the position of Global Head Biologics & Injectables Operations (SVP) at Sandoz from January 2023 to October 2023, alongside a role as Non-Executive Board Director (NXD) at Salutas Pharma GmbH during the same period. Mario was the CEO of Novartis from January 2014 to January 2023, where responsibilities included serving as Chairman of the Board Sandoz GmbH Austria and Executive Managing Director of Novartis Holding Austria. Mario's extensive experience also includes leadership roles in biologics and small molecules, spanning various positions at Sandoz and Biochemie GmbH. Mario holds a Diplom-Ingenieur in Process Engineering / Environmental Engineering from MCI | The Entrepreneurial School® and an Engineer’s Degree in Technical Chemistry from Wirtschafskammer Österreich.
