Shelley Murphy is an investigative reporter, who works on a three-member strike force team focusing on stories that expose wrongdoing and hold public institutions accountable. She has also covered organized crime in Boston since the 1980s and is co-author of the New York Times best-seller “Whitey Bulger: America’s Most Wanted Gangster and the Manhunt That Brought Him to Justice.” Murphy is a Boston native -- with the accent to prove it (wait, what accent?) -- and graduated from Northeastern University. She joined the Globe in 1993.
