Zaid Tahir

Zaid Tahir is a PhD researcher in Computer Engineering at Boston University, specializing in FPGAs, SOCs, and HPC in Data Center Clouds and IoT, and is currently collaborating with RedHat on the development of a HardwareOS for FPGAs. Previous experience includes roles as an Embedded System Engineer at Skylark Wireless, where Zaid designed and evaluated FPGA-based 5G Massive MIMO radio systems, and as a Graduate Research Intern at Rapid Silicon, contributing to the open-source software "Raptor" in OOP C++ and TCL scripting. Zaid also served as a Research Fellow at the University of York, developing a safety simulation framework for autonomous vehicles using AI/ML algorithms, and as Assistant Manager of Embedded Systems at the Advanced Engineering Research Organization, focusing on control and DSP projects. Additionally, Zaid worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the National University of Sciences and Technology, leading classes in Robotics and AI. Zaid holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Boston University, an M.S. in Robotics and AI, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Avionics Engineering, both from NUST.
