Nadim Kanan

Nadim Kanan, PhD, currently serves as Vice President of Energy Storage at BrightNight since September 2024. Prior to this role, Kanan was Senior Director of Energy Storage Engineering at Avantus, leading a multidisciplinary team in battery performance oversight and portfolio-level analytics. Previous positions include Director of Energy Systems Analytics at NEC Energy Solutions, where Kanan managed battery energy storage system (BESS) performance tools and data science deployment, and roles in microgrid solutions and power systems engineering at companies such as SunEdison, California ISO, and UTC Power. Kanan holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Connecticut, a Master’s in Engineering Systems and Management from Khalifa University in collaboration with MIT, and a Bachelor's in Electrical Power Systems Engineering from Yarmouk University.
