Caroline Gillaspie

Caroline Gillaspie is an accomplished art historian currently serving as the Assistant Curator of American Art at the Brooklyn Museum since September 2021, where Caroline also holds the title of Andrew W. Mellon Research Fellow. Caroline has extensive teaching experience as an Adjunct Instructor at CUNY New York City College of Technology since August 2015 and previously at York College and Pratt Institute. In addition to academic roles, Caroline has worked as a Licensed NYC Tour Guide with Big Onion Walking Tours since October 2011, conducting historic tours of New York City neighborhoods. Earlier professional experiences include positions at Hawthorne Fine Art and as a Research Assistant at Brooklyn Museum, along with internships at the New-York Historical Society. Caroline's academic credentials include a PhD and M.Phil in Art History from The Graduate Center, City University of New York, and a BA in Art History and History from Mount Holyoke College.
