Benjamin Bao

Mr. Benjamin Bao, aged 54, Chinese citizen, born in China on January 28, 1968.

He currently serves as Director of SouthGobi Resources Ltd. since 2020. He previously served as Commissioner of the Company between 2017 - 2018.

He is a member of the executive committee of China Investment Corporation (CIC). He also heads the Investment Department One (CIC Capital) as well as the Real Estate Department (CIC International) in which he oversees the infrastructure, real estate, energy, and commodities related investments activities.Prior to that, he managed North American fund investments and private credit market investments in the Private Equity Department at China Investment Corporation. Previously, he was with HSBC, where he started in the Global Investment Banking Division at HSBC China, then served as Director of the China Transportation team, Manager of HSBC Northern China Area, and Vice President of HSBC’s Beijing branch. Before HSBC, he was with the Export- Import Bank of China, where he was head of the Export Credit Department, working on export credit project reviews and credit management.

During his tenure there, he led and engaged in almost 100 financing projects on export credit. He started his career with China Construction Bank, focusing on feasibility assessment of infrastructure projects.

Mr. Benjamin Bao holds a Master Degree of Industrial Foreign Trading from Shanghai Jiaotong University (1994).
