Ian Briggs

Ian Briggs is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience in the life sciences and medical research sectors. As Chief Technology Officer at Burnet Institute and Centre for Eye Research Australia since January 2016, Ian has focused on enhancing collaboration through strategic technology initiatives among three major institutes. Previously, Ian served as Chief Technology Officer and General Manager of Information Technology at Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute from February 2005 until September 2024, where leadership led to significant departmental growth and innovation. Ian began a career in IT management at St Vincents and Mercy Private Hospital, starting as Help Desk Officer and subsequently developing essential help desk systems. Ian holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Monash University, completed in 1994.
