John Thimsen

John Thimsen is a technology executive with extensive experience in engineering leadership and product development. Currently serving as a Board Member at Clozd and Chief Technology Officer at Mason since April 2024, John has previously held significant roles at Qualtrics as both Advisor to the CEO and Chief Technology Officer, overseeing a global engineering team of over 1500. As Director of Engineering for Amazon Echo, John contributed to the Alexa software service and led the team that brought the product to market. Earlier roles at Amazon include Senior Manager and Software Development Manager, focusing on personalized merchandising and the eCommerce SDK. John started a career in software engineering at reputable companies like Openwave Systems, Microsoft, Trimble Navigation, and Active Voice Corporation, building foundational technologies and innovative solutions. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington.
